Last time I left you with a look at the laundry room. Well, after eleven days, we haven't gotten a whole lot done since then. We did order all of our appliances and they arrived this past Saturday. However, nothing could be installed at that time because the prep work hadn't been completed yet. It seems like every small project we work on turns into a huge project that takes an enormous amount of time. It is muy frustrating I tell ya!
Anywho, we did manage to finish installing, grouting and buffing the new kitchen back splash tile. I've been a bit remiss in my photography on these projects since I've been working so hard on them. I just can't seem to fit in some good photo shoots! Here is the subway tile going up in a vertical running bond pattern, before grout... (I promise, better pictures will come later!)

Our appliances were delivered Saturday morning, in the rain, of course. Everything seemed fine until I unboxed the microwave/hood unit and there it was, a HUGE dent in the bottom of the unit. Joy. Hubby is exchanging that today. The cabinet-depth fridge, however, is awesome, water has been hooked up thanks to the Hubster, and it can start making ice for our much needed cocktails soon! I love the sexy, dimmable LED lighting. It's the little things... ;-)
The microwave/hood unit, dishwasher and range are all the same line, nicely matched. We sprung for the nicer washer and dryer since we scored the Labor Day sale. I am gonna be able to wash ANYTHING in that washing machine - It's HUGE! AND it's a top-loader, no more stinky front-loader to deal with, yay!
Ok, the biggest pain in the rear was getting the new mailbox and post installed. Seriously, how hard does it have to be?? Well, let me tell ya... Hubby cannot, I repeat, CANNOT have just some puny 4 X 4 post out there holding the mailbox. NO WAY. NON. NEIN. It must be a 6 X 6 post with a notched cross beam. I wish I had a video of him carrying this monster out to the street. I laughed so hard I almost peed myself! Our Friends, thankfully, got to witness this as well as they walked over to visit. Hilarious! Luckily, since we waited SO long to get this done, we had lots of rain and the hole digging was really easy...

We did manage to get the house numbers on one side, but with Hubby's super human strength after working out with this beast, he broke the screws off of one of the numbers! Back to Lowes he goes! I feel like we live at that store right now. SOOOOO many trips for supplies...
The kitchen is nearing completion. Next up is installing interior fittings, dishwasher, countertop, sink, and microwave/hood unit. Oh, and I STILL haven't even started on the cabinet doors. Can you tell I'm dreading it? ;-) I will get those sanded and primed sometime in the next week. Maybe. LOL!
Next time I'm hoping to have a more completed looking room to show you, there is just too much to do in this house!
